Organic Market Garden & Food Forest Masterclass | Two Day
19&20 March Join us on Tamborine Mountain on a beautiful Avocado Orchard for a full 2 day immersive. This workshop is suitable for beginners right through to advanced gardeners.
This course will focus on 2 main elements. Food forestry and market gardening.
Often in projects that incorporate both, they don’t tend to continually grow together, as the forest systems grow so does life, life that is not always best for garden production. In the forest we keep our fruits, nuts, berrys, mushrooms, tubers(sweet potato, ginger, tumeric etc) our firewood suppply, chicken and pig habitat. And we keep our more managed market garden in close proximity to the dwellings, in an open space full of sunlight and space for birds to move in.
This course will focus on a regenerative market garden system that produces microclimate, mulch, insect and disease control. We will take standard lawn and convert it through conscious cultivation into a high production No Till garden space focused on massive yields of vegetables, beautifully integrated with permanent systems to regulate the garden. A convergence of permaculture, no till, market gardening, syntropics and Gods way(Zambian), & Eden method are combined to fully utilise all aspects of these systems in an integrated way.
our Agroforestry/Food Forest Module will include all the design aspects and considerations of starting a food forest, how to plan, how to prepare and how to install a food forest, hands on. This module will also include a lesson on harvesting mature tree material to use, to build the food forest, with a focus on bulk sweet potato crops in the forest. We will be pruning down avocado trees and using all the limbs, leafs and twigs to build the forest. We also have a previous wild food forest planted into the mature bush land from last years course which we will use to teach you all how to manage a forest after it’s first year of growth and all the things you should consider. This is also a time to reconsider the context, see what works, see what doesn’t work and learn from the space.
course tickets are limited to 20 people to give us a really good, close course. With plenty of time for Q&A and all the knowledge surrounding our activities. Each participant will have a strong understanding of the dynamics of nature and food production after this intensive course!
